What Is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects how individuals communicate, understand, and interact with the world around them.
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) can vary greatly from person to person, and the way it presents often changes throughout different stages of life. Factors like stress, environment, and development can all influence how ASC shows up. For individuals with autism, this might mean facing challenges in the classroom, at home, or in social settings, which is why tailored strategies and support are so important.

Our assessments help parents, schools, young people and individuals find the right techniques to support their unique needs, while also empowering individuals to understand the incredible strengths that neurodiversity brings. We recognise that Autism often overlaps with other conditions, so we also screen for ADHD, mental health conditions, sensory, emotional, and language needs. These insights are included in our detailed reports, with recommendations to guide the best support strategies.

What is the cost and what will this give me?
An autism assessment, priced at £2000, offers invaluable benefits that can truly transform the lives of individuals and their families. We’ve been through these steps ourselves, and we’re here to guide you with compassion and care. Our specialist team follow all NICE Guidelines and follow DSM 5 criteria for all our multi-professional assessments. We use NICE approved psychological tools, including the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, RCADS, ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview, Revised) and the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule). Our reports are also accepted by CAMHS!

The assessment provides an accurate diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), offering much-needed clarity. Our team of experienced professionals understands how overwhelming this process can feel, but we also know the sense of relief that comes from having answers. We’ve been there ourselves, and we’re here to help you and your family better understand the challenges and strengths that come with autism.

Beyond diagnosis, we offer personalised support plans tailored to your specific needs. Whether at home, school, or in the workplace, these recommendations help create an environment where you can thrive. Because we’ve walked this path, we know how important it is to have the right strategies and support in place, and we work closely with you to make that happen.

By choosing an assessment with us, you’re not only receiving expert care but also the understanding and empathy that come from shared experience. Our goal is to help you navigate this journey with confidence and empower you to reach your full potential, with a deep appreciation for the strengths that neurodiversity brings.

Combined ASC and ADHD assessments

Our combined Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments, priced at £3000, offer invaluable insight into understanding your unique needs. These comprehensive assessments provide a clear diagnosis, which is often the key to unlocking the right support and interventions. With expert evaluations, we assess how Autism and ADHD might interact, ensuring a full picture of strengths and challenges. This in-depth process helps create personalised strategies to improve day-to-day life at home, school, or work, and empowers individuals with neurodiverse conditions to thrive. The value lies in the clarity, tailored guidance, and long-term support these assessments provide, helping families and individuals make informed decisions for a brighter future.
Whats involved?
Assessment areas include:
Social interaction , such as how you initiate and maintain social conversation
Social communication such as how you make sense of the thoughts and feelings within your body and those of others
Interests which seem usually intense
Sensory and emotional needs, including an indepth consideration of any anxiety you may be experiencing and what is underpining this.
What happens during the assessment?
Our friendly administrator and case-coordinator (Nikki) will be in touch and go through the forms that are required. (Yes sorry there will be some paperwork but we are there to help if you need!)
Once we have the paperwork out of the way, we arrange for a screening to be completed with either Dr Emma Rigby and Lucy White. This is a relaxed and informal screening meeting that we can do either online or in person. This will be an opportunity to build your trust with us and to know that we offer a safe space throughout our ssessments. You can ask us lots of different question and let us know your worries and we can put strategies in place to support you to engage in the assessment.
We offer two assessment sessions:
One is for parents/carers only and is with Dr Emma Rigby face to face at our clinic in binfield. Sometimes these can be done online, however Dr Rigby prefers to do these face to face as we feel that this is a more personal way of doing them.

The other assessment session is face to face at our Berkshire clinic for the person being assessed. This appointment is client-led as much as possible. Every effort will be made to reduce anxiety and to ensure you feel comfortable, relaxed and regulated. These appointments are undertaken by either Lucy White, Jessica Regan or Vicky Mackinlay.
What happens after the assessment?
A multi-displinary team meeting is held by all professionals who have contributed to the assessment.
A substantial report is issued in the weeks after the clinic appointments have finished to allow time for our team to meet and for any additional relevant information to be gathered.
Along with a clear diagnosis and executive summary, this report also gives a clear and detailed analysis of your strengthes and needs along with recommended strategies, support and guidance for ongoing support as necessary.

What happens post diagnosis?
