We are a multidisciplinary team of qualified professionals experienced in working with children, adults and family services within the NHS and private sector.
We are committed to helping individuals of all ages along their journey to understand whether ASC and/or ADHD may help to explain their experiences. We will be there to support through the assessment and diagnosis process, and guide further intervention.
Our team offers thorough assessments tailored to each person’s needs. We use a range of diagnostic tools as appropriate, alongside collaborative consultations and family involvement in the assessment process.

Our Team:

Autism and ADHD Assessment Core Team:

Lucy White
Director, ASC and ADHD Assessor & Occupational Therapist.
Hi, I’m Lucy. Mum to two gorgeous boys; Corey and Logan and a wonderful husband Ben. I qualified in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Oxford Brookes University. After our journey to have our little superhero Logan diagnosed with ADHD and to get him the support he really needed, we realised just how disjointed it was for parents.
There was no clinic that had everything under one roof from diagnosis, to medicating, support through the EHCP process and the therapeutic input required for him.
Having been through the whole process myself, I can really understand just how difficult, time consuming and draining it is on your mental health to have to organise everything and be the constant for your young person or adult.
Seeking out support from Dr Emma Rigby, we decided that we would like to focus and concentrate our energy into a clinic like no other, where other parents don’t have to go through what we went through. Thus, offering all the services under one roof here at BASE!

Hi, I’m Emma. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Surrey in 2016, prior to my doctoral training I completed a Masters in Forensic Psychology and a BSC in Psychology. I am a qualified EMDR Therapist and advanced practitioner in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
I have worked with young people, adults and families for over 15 years both in the NHS and private practice.
My special interest in Autism Spectrum Conditions started when working with a child and adolescent service in the NHS. Since this role I have had children of my own and have experienced first-hand both the joy and challenge of parenting a child with additional sensory needs.
It is our hope at BASE that we will provide a safe and compassionate space for individuals and families to explore their own experiences with neurodiversity, and be a supportive place throughout.

Hi, I’m Lucinda. I qualified in 2023 with a First Class Honours degree in Occupational Therapy from Oxford Brookes University. After working with Lucy for many years and having first-hand experience professionally and personally with many little superheroes like Logan, this fuelled my passion for supporting unique organisations such as this to give the assessment, intervention and holistic support and care to these superheroes and their families require and deserve.
Areas that particularly interest me are ensuring neuro-affirming practices and implementation of sensory integration strategies that enable engagement in occupations that are meaningful for the person and allow them to thrive, not just survive.

Ms Sadia Hussain
Speech and Language Therapist and ASC Assessor
Hi, I am Sadia, a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist. My career has spanned over 20 years, serving the clinical field of neurological rehabilitation. I have a specialist interest in the areas of brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury. As well as neurological rehabilitation, I have a keen interest in neuro-diverse conditions including Autism and am qualified to complete ADOS assessments to support an Autism diagnosis and treatment.
I have worked in clinical lead roles across the NHS and private sector and currently work as a Consultant at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, providing assessment and bespoke treatment for individuals with communication and swallowing difficulties.
I prioritise evidence-based practice and use up-to-date research as well as technology to give the best outcomes. This includes neuro-stimulation for swallow, communication technology and focused vocational therapy to support individuals to return to work/education.

Vicky Mackinlay
Speech and Language Therapist and ASC Assessor
BSc (Hons) Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, RCSLT, HCPC, ASLTIP
I am a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 16 years experience. I have specialised in practising Speech and Language therapy for children 0-18 in clinics, in their own homes or in education settings with a wide range of communication needs. The majority of my experience has been working for the NHS in Wales and then in Surrey. I have my own private Speech and Language therapy service "Talking with Vicky" and I am also experienced in adminstering the ADOS assessment and have been doing so since 2016 within a variety of settings including both the NHS and the private sector.
I strongly believe that early regular help for children when they are little, makes a significant difference in the outcomes for the children’s futures. Lots of children struggle with talking and it can be a daunting task for parents to know what best to do for their child.

Ben White
IT support and executive tea maker for everyone else!
Hi, I’m Ben, Dad to my two gorgeous boys Logan and Corey. I am a project manager by background but became volunteered by my lovely wife Lucy to help with BASE when she decided along with Dr Emma Rigby that things needed to change for all wonderful little superheroes like our Loganberry, after he was diagnosed with ADHD.
It took us a long time with many tears and sleepless nights to sort and organise everything for our superhero and we want to ensure that we change this for other parents and can be there as a support network for them, like Lucy was there for me.
Therapy dog
Hi, I’m Ellie. I’m a two year old golden retriever and qualified therapy dog. I enjoy going everywhere with my mummy (Lucy) and can even take part in some aspects of the assessments where my mummy and you feel it’s appropriate!
Additional Team Members

We are also very lucky to have additional members who offer support in post diagnositc services and all areas of the EHCP process as well as complementary services following an ASC and/or ADHD assessment by BASE:

Wonderful words of wisdom...
Thank you Emma and team for all your continued support and encouragement. I will always keep in mind those the wonderful words of wisdom and analogies and thought-provoking strategies that I can always refer back to.
Thank you for everything...
Dr Rigby’s approach was different in terms of helping me to understand & to work on my own issue rather than trying to tell me what I was going through (or what meds I should take). Thank you for everything you have done to support me and my family.
